About Me
Welcome Fellow Traveler! Thank you for visiting my website, Nerd Girl Travel. My name is Christina, and I have no idea what to put here!
I’ve been traveling since I was little, but then it was just family vacations going camping with the occasional big trip. One of those larger trips was to Hawai’i when I was around 12/13. According to my dad I made an exclamation that I was going to go to Hawai’i for college. I do not remember this, and when college time came around I ended up in Ohio. But, lo and behold, my university has a sister school on Oahu and my sophomore year I applied and got accepted! It was amazing living there for four months.
I truly caught the travel bug when I was sixteen and went to France on a class trip. It’s been so long that I don’t remember a lot from it aside from some small things. Like the time I told the guy working the sandwich stand “Je m’appelle jambon et fromage” instead of “Je voudrais est du jambon et du fromage”. Translation: My name is ham and cheese instead of I would like ham and cheese. *sigh*
After college I enrolled for the summer session of Semester at Sea. This, I do remember seeing about while in high school on MTV’s Road Rules and thinking “I want to do that”. Summer sessions were shortened, so I wasn’t able to go around the world, but I was able to see six European countries and Egypt. That was an experience for sure.
To date I’ve traveled to six continents and 22 countries. I’ve got my bucket list and will be expanding these numbers! Maybe even returning to a few favorites.
When I’m not traveling I spend my time reading, going to trivia and movies with friends, and cross stitching. I just did my first Paint Nite and I’m hooked. I just don’t have the wall space for all the paintings I want to do!
I’m a proud furmom to two wonderful black cats. You may see them pop up in the occasional photo. They like being the center of attention, which is fine since I don’t – which is weird for a person writing a travel blog, I know. Yea, you won’t see a lot of photos with me in them, I think people should see where I am, they don’t need to see me.
I am not a professional traveler like most blogs out there. I work a 9-5 M-F desk job. I’m not making six figures and no trust fund waiting for me. What am I getting at? Most of my travel that I am writing about will be achievable for the average person.
Here you will find my thoughts on my travels. I will give my tips and tricks as well as any other information I may seem valuable. I’ll be talking about “standard” trips as well as some not so standard – hello comic conventions! Please sit back and enjoy.
